Back To The Teresitas

Now I definitely see a big difference between the beaches that the locals go to and the ones for tourists. In fact, the lady in the tourist information office didn’t even try to cover this up. We are back at the Los Teresitas beach near the town San Andres, in the armpit of the eastern extension of the island, very near Santa Cruz. Today unlike last time there’s almost no wind and no waves, because the whole long beach is hiding behind an artificial range of stones. This time it is almost full and most people are locals. Understandably so: the place is idyllic, with white sand, palm trees and blue shallow water, which is warm and nice.

The parking lot is gigantic and is right above the beach. No phony shops or anything at all touristy. There are a couple of places that sell drinks, something else for food and that’s it. All of a sudden, there’s a small cemetery just above one of the corners of the beach. Probably for drowning victims.
