One of the visitors’ reviews in TripAdvisor says, “Well, in the end of the day, it’s just a tree”. True that, but it is a big, big mamma of all the big trees, which actually looks sort of elegant in its gigantic way. This “dragon tree” is one of Tenerife’s attractions whose miniature is drawn on the tourist maps (you know, the ones with miniature attractions drawn on them), so it was definitely important to have a look at. The cutest thing about it (for me, that is) is that nobody really knows how old it is. They say it could be anything from 300 to 700 years old. So, to be certain, they commonly call it a 1000-year old tree. It warms me to think that somebody like Columbus could be visiting the island and they would tell him, “Hey, Christo, come with. There’s a big tree here, very old. Like, 300 years old. Or 700. Really old, come take a look”.
In the end of the day, it is still just a tree, my friend.
