I wish you’d take a picture of me now. Relaxed and a little drunk on the local wine after a seriously nice dinner cooked by Lidia who can whip up a spectacular meal out of regular groceries, I’m in a chair out under the December Tenerife starry skies next to the penthouse we’re staying in. My family is next to me in the lounge chair-thingie, making plans for the future. There’s a candle light and some more wine, life is great. Even the dude who spends hours reading in his chair on his balcony in the building next to ours, is gone. Let’s hope he’s out enjoying himself on the beach promenade or doing something significant in his room.
We are thoroughly enjoying the place by now. It is such a pleasant contrast to the kitschy crowded south of the island. Today we just had a walk around some local parks: Tauro Parque, full of athletic locals teaching each other how to quicker achieve attractive 6-packs, and then privately-kept Jardine Aquatico, which isn’t very big, but charming and cool. Its ponds are full of life, there are carps and ducks and even turtles, all of them sharing the the muddy ponds.
It’s actually pretty cold out here and the reading guy is back. I think I should head back in now, before I catch a cold. Have to take my chair with me. Cheerio.
